This interactive workshop explores how effective marketing communication in social media can advance mission-driven work, amplify community voices, and build meaningful engagement. Led by BGK leader Brittany King, the session equips participants with practical tools to communicate authentically, strategically, and ethically across digital platforms.
Participants will examine how storytelling, branding, and audience engagement intersect in social media spaces, with special attention to justice-centered messaging and values-based communication. Drawing on real-world experience, the workshop emphasizes clarity, consistency, and creativity while navigating the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Through hands-on exercises and case examples, participants will learn how to craft compelling messages, use visual and written content effectively, and measure impact in ways that support organizational goals and community accountability.

Brittany King

Brittany King is a Chicago-based copywriter and communications strategist with more than a decade of experience shaping narratives and building brand presence across industries. She began her career in journalism, writing for outlets including The Washington Post, AdWeek, Condé Nast Traveler, and the Indianapolis Recorder, before expanding into higher education, ad agency, and nonprofit marketing. Over the years, Brittany has led social media strategy, developed integrated campaigns, and supported mission-driven organizations in clarifying and amplifying their stories.
Today, she is the co-owner of BGK Solutions, a Black-owned consulting firm that partners with nonprofits, religious institutions, and mission-driven companies to provide marketing, finance, and operations support. With a BA in Mass Media Communication from the University of Missouri, Brittany brings both strategic insight and hands-on experience to her work, helping organizations communicate with authenticity, clarity, and impact.
