This intensive class will provide an overview of the predecessor denominations that shaped the United Church of Christ’s history and style of congregational governance.  It will also look at how General Synod functions, explore theological foundations, discuss the authorization process and review educational resources available from the denomination.

Who Should Take this Class?

• Anyone interested in learning more about the United Church of Christ.
• This class is frequently accepted as the polity requirement for those seeking Dual Standing or Privilege of Call in the United Church of Christ.  It is occasionally accepted for those who are on multiple paths to ordination. Consult your Committee on Ministry or authorizing body if you are seeking any of these types of authorization and ask if they will accept this course. 
• This course does not meet the polity requirement for Members in Discernment
