On Thursday, October 3rd, Saint Louis University Professor Reggie Williams and Eden Professor and Director of the Walker Leadership Institute, the Rev. Dr. Dietra Wise Baker, will discuss how faithful people can engage in these last days of the 2024 election.
Dr. Reggie Williams joined the SLU faculty in 2024 as Associate Professor of Theological Studies. Dr. Williams, a Black Christian Social Ethicist. His work draws upon Black studies and Christian Ethics. His book, Bonhoeffer's Black Jesus: Harlem Renaissance Theology and an Ethic of Resistance, “illumines the deep places of Bonhoeffer's life and thought. Moreover, Reggie Williams' presentation and writing are exemplary, within reach of any audience serious about Bonhoeffer.” Larry Rasmussen, Reinhold Niebuhr Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics, Union Theological Seminary.
The Rev. Dr. Dietra Wise Baker is director of the Walker Leadership Institute, Assistant Professor of Community Leadership, and founding director of the Center for Lived Faith and Organizing at Eden. Locally, she has been a leader in the work of Episcopal City Mission and Liberation Christian Church. Nationally, she has led the National Benevolent Association (Disciples of Christ).
This program will be in the Wehrli Chapel. It will start with a continental breakfast from 7:30 to 8:00, followed by the panel from 8:00 to 9:00.
